Invite list

ACES is a great way to bring attention to the importance of physical education and the promotion of physical activity at your school. Take advantage of that opportunity and invite members of your community who should be part of the celebration. This may include people who already know about the good things your school is doing to encourage physical activity (parents, school board members), but it’s also a great time to include other community members and let them learn first hand about your school’s enthusiasm for fitness.

Including community members at your event will also increase the interest of local media. Media coverage not only helps spread your school’s message, but also spreads the fitness message to other Michiganders who read about your school in the newspaper, see your school on television or hear about your school on the radio. Here’s a list of people you might want to consider inviting to help lead the activities you plan for ACES With-a-Friend day. Maybe your students could help you select a few special people from the following list.


From the School Environment
Building staff including principal, food service, specialists, and custodians
Bus drivers
Parents
Superintendent and office staff
School Board members
Coaches
Retired principal or teachers

Civic Leaders and Dignitaries
By enticing a few of the people on this list to attend your event, they can demonstrate to your students that they believe in physical activity, too.

State Representative
State Senator
Probate Judge (They are often involved in children’s issues and might enjoy an invitation to such a happy   event.)
Sheriff or deputy
Police Chief or community police officer

Media personalities­--TV news anchor, weatherman, local sports reporter
Professional and semi-professional athletes
Area college athletes (those who attend area colleges and those who will be home from college that attended your school)

Area businesses

• Is there an office across the street from the school? Invite their employees to join you.
• Do you have any school-business partnerships with any area businesses? Invite their employees to participate.
• How about a Farm Bureau Insurance office in the area? Their funding of ACES With-a-Friend statewide pays for ACES materials and local agents may appreciate an invitation.
