Bike to School Day

Kids across Michigan will bike, walk, and roll to school on May 7th, for the annual Bike to School Day in 2014. With over 100 schools participating this is sure to be Michigan’s largest Bike to School Day to date.

Bike to School Day is a national event that focuses on bringing community leaders, parents, students and other stakeholders together to build awareness for communities to be more walkable and bikeable by planning a bike themed event at their school(s). Building off of the incredible success of Walk to School Day, which started in 1997, Bike to School Day encourages healthier habits, safer communities, and cleaner environments.

Events can be as elaborate or simple as schools want them to be and if May 7th doesn’t work schools can choose any other day in May!

Schools that sign up will be automatically entered into a drawing with the National Bike to School Day: Helmets on Heads Giveaway. In partnership with Schwinn’s Helmets on Heads program, they will give away 10 bicycles, 20 helmets to 10 lucky schools throughout the nation.
