Position:  Communication Manager

FTE:  1.0 FTE

Education:  Bachelor’s or advanced degree in communications or digital marketing preferred. Experience may substitute for degree requirement.

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience and education

Description:  Development and management of social and digital marketing campaigns. Channel management of digital content hubs and all supporting social channels including email/newsletter distribution. Additional community engagement projects as assigned. This role requires an editorial mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it, along with a brand publisher mindset to create the content our audience is looking for and optimize the path to conversion. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a portfolio of health and wellness projects, especially projects related to community engagement
  • Design digital media campaigns aligned with program goals
  • Accountable for defined content marketing initiatives to drive traffic & engagement and effective digital brand advocacy
  • Develop digital content (e.g. website, blogs, press releases and videos)
  • Development and management of social presence
  • Content distribution and measurement
  • Stay current in marketing trends and news e.g. Google updates, changes in algorithms, etc.
  • Participate in evolution of brand guidelines for the Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF)
  • Coordinate multiple projects and varying deadlines
  • Distill health and wellness concepts into information for general, public consumption

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to plan, create and implement a marketing strategy
  • Ability to execute, monitor, and optimize paid social media and digital ad campaigns
  • Understanding of key measurement tools available
  • Ability to analyze and present content and social performance
  • Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, social channels
  • Experience developing and managing editorial/content calendars and organization workflows
  • Experience with creation and management of digital ad campaigns across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Google AdWords, and Twitter
  • Digital editing experience preferred
  • Must possess basic SEO understanding
  • Experience with digital marketing in publicly-funded grant program and non-profit environments
  • Experience with project management and oversight of team members working on assigned projects
  • Ability to work with teams in a matrix-based organization

 

Other Information:

  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other standard office machines, and constantly communicate with internal staff as well as external partners.
  • Must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position as well as move about in the course of general duties.
  • Some travel on weekdays and weekends. Must possess valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
