Get your bike ready for some springtime fun!

Spring is here and it’s time to get out the bikes! Whether that means you need to buy a bike, fix up an old bike, or just move your bike outside from a winter of indoor riding, now is the time to do it.  For so many reasons, biking may be the perfect form of exercise.  First, it is heart healthy and a great way to burn some calories. Biking can offer a mind and whole body workout and is considered a low impact exercise. Also, biking is an accessible sport to anyone and is a great way to experience the great outdoors!  In rural areas, biking can offer a peaceful reprieve from working in a city and the constant bombardments of social media, mass media, and disruptions from ‘routine life’. In urban areas, bike paths are becoming increasingly common. Bike paths (when they are not packed) offer a scenic view and can be a fun way to be a part of an outdoor fitness culture with friends or family or even on your own.

With biking, the true test should be how often you can make it out for a ride. Whether it’s a mountain bike, road bike, or cruiser, now is the time to get back on the bike. I urge you to do a Google search or jump onto the League of Michigan Bicyclist webpage ( and explore biking trails and paths near you!
