Who inspires you? Now get out and make memories with them!

Wow! I think spring might actually be here again. As I sit and write this, I can hardly believe that last weekend we were shoveling snow and this weekend we are outside in the sun.  What a difference a week makes in Northern Michigan.  With that said, I HAVE SPRING FEVER!

Coming out of a long winter, I am realizing this is the first winter I haven’t packed on my “winter layer.” There are a lot of reasons, but the two biggest are my healthy nutrition and my tribe of motivating friends and family. Have you ever noticed that we tend to surround ourselves with like minded individuals?  Over the past year I have added so many positive, motivated members to my tribe of supporters. They keep me accountable and motivated, and they show up every day to support me- either by phone, Facebook or in person! I’ve reconnected with classmates from high school, made new friends and kept in touch with family.  What we all have in common is the drive to be the best we can be! Build your tribe with people who INSPIRE you!

With summer fast approaching, I am building my summer bucket list.  I have so many things I want to get out and do, so many experiences that I want to share with those around me.  Our great state has SO MANY THINGS TO OFFER!  I am blessed to have the energy and health to do them and the amazing friends and family to share them with.  As an avid runner, I plan to run several races this summer but beyond that, I can’t wait to get out and hike, bike and explore.

We have so many spectacular natural attractions here in the Upper Peninsula that I am looking forward to exploring. I am already planning some camping trips.  If you haven’t already, I really recommend visiting some of the many great waterfalls and other attractions. Our favorites are Ocqueoc Falls (you’ll find an AMAZING swimming hole), Tahquamenon Falls (bring your hiking shoes, there are great trails and a lot of stairs) and Kitch-iti-kipi also known as Big Spring (the view through the crystal clear water from the raft is breathtaking). Grab a friend, take a road trip and make some memories.

Have you ever used the North-Central State Trail system? In the winter it is part of our snowmobile trails; the rest of the year it is a great trail for walking, running or biking.  You will enjoy great scenery made up of woods, water and wildlife.

There are also many music festivals to enjoy. Our favorite is BlissFest, which offers 3 days of family friendly music, activities, camping and more. You can learn more about them at blissfest.org.

Take some time to find out what is available in your area, what attractions would you like to see and plan your summer of adventures. Check out our State Park system, some of the natural attractions and get outside.  I don’t know about you, but I think I will run out of summer long before I run out of adventures to complete!
